Quick Tip: Boost Your Cricket by Planning Your Own Training Session

Chances are your coach plans your sessions for you. What's stopping you from doing it yourself?

 

Your coach has excellent knowledge and skill drills at their fingertips. That said, you are in a far better position to know what you need to work on than anyone else. So, don't wait for the coach to guess. Plan your own session.

These days, modern coaches believe that players are in the best position to lead their own development. Naturally, they are around to help with specific practices that get you to your aim, but they want you to come up with that aim.

Yet, many coaches are frustrated by players who only ever turn up to practice waiting for the coach to deliver exactly what they want and also manage every other player fairly. It's impossible, even for the best coaches. So, take some of the responsibility yourself and plan your own training.

It might be a strength you want to turn into a super strength.

It might be a weakness you want to iron out.

It might be technical or tactical. It may have a fitness element.

It might take one session or several years.

It might be a group session with 15 other players, a small group of four or even a one to one.

The point is this; when the coach sees you have planned a session they can work with you to reach your goal faster. If you don't do it, you are stuck with generic practice that may or may not meet your needs.

So, take a few minutes, write a session plan and give it to your coach far enough before training that they can set it up. Then watch your game expand quickly.
