Cricket Basic Number 35: What not to say.

35. For the record, in real cricket you don’t have to call “O.C.” (Over Coming) or “creaseleave” when you leave your crease but not for the purpose of running.

Cricket Basic Number 34: Play Real Back-Yard Cricket.

34. Play real back-yard cricket. Reward good batting technique (that is to say, reward straight drives but punish hitting the ball in the air) and play with a ball that lets you bowl bouncers (preferably on a shortened pitch with a ball that swings outrageously (eg indoor cricket balls or tennis balls with electrical tape on one side).

Cricket Basic Number 33: Don't Get Hit by the Batsman in the Next Net

33. In loose hanging nets don’t bend over to pick up a ball if it is near the net and there is a chance the adjacent batsmen could hit the ball into you through the net. Pick your moment and use the end of your bat to roll the ball back towards you in a safe position to pick up or put the toe of your bat against the net to keep it and any balls hit at a safe distance from you.

How win low scoring cricket matches

Low scoring games are an intense mental challenge for players. It's the side who can hold their nerve that come out victors.

How do you contribute to that?

Cricket Basic Number 30: No Mankads

30. No matter how desperate you are for a wicket, a bowler should never mankad someone without giving a warning or two to the batsman and the umpire and checking with your captain.
