Cricket Basic 88 (Batting): Do What You Gotta Do, Be Who You Want to Be

88. A batsman has less chance of being distracted by the fielders if he totally ignores any comments from them. However, some batsman are most relaxed and focus best if they chat continually with the field, while others still are at their best when sledging back to the opposition’s quicks and generating some vehemence. How deliberate is your bowling practice?

Recently I arrived early for a net session and a young left arm seamer was there alone bowling at the stumps.

I watched him for a few minutes and his length seemed to vary quite a bit. As I knew him quite well I wandered up and asked him where he was aiming to pitch the ball.

Cricket Basic 86 (Batting): Take the Pain

86. If he can possibly manage it, a batsman should never show that a bowler has caused him any pain or discomfort whatsoever.
