Cumbria Cricket Ltd is the Local Governing Body for cricket in Cumbria as a member of the England & Wales Cricket Board Recreational Assembly. Company objects are to promote the game of cricket at all levels through the delivery of the ECB National Strategy ‘Grounds to Play’ and County Improvement Action Plan.

 

Cumbria Schools’ Cricket Association is the local governing body for cricket in schools and runs competitions at all ages up to U15, under the auspices of ESCA. We also run U12 representative fixtures and friendlies.
 
U12 County Team Head Coach for 2014.
 
The Under 12 County Squad currently plays six ESCA fixtures, two friendlies and takes part in a 4- day Festival in Ipswich in the school summer holiday. This exciting post will include:
  • Produce session plans for all coaching programmes Selection of other coaches to coach at county sessions
  • Prepare squad to play before and during fixtures
  • Prepared to mentor coaches involved in the player pathway Look after all coaching aspects for the squad-fixtures and coaching sessions
  • Select County Age group squad in conjunction with the Team Manager
  • Be part of Cumbria Player Pathway Steering Group Ensure all activities are organised to meet all minimum quality standards
All reasonable expenses will be paid as agreed. Coaching delivered at the indoor coaching sessions will be paid as agreed.
 
At the time of writing, an U12 squad has been selected for 2014 by the U11 Manager. Coaching sessions have been arranged at Keswick Howard Allen Sports Hall on 19th January, and 2nd February 2014, between 11.00am and 4.00pm. Essential Qualifications:
Cricket experience - 
  • Must have coached a junior side Must hold UKCC 2 or ECB Level 2 or above qualification and be a member of ECB CA Must be CRB checked
  • Must have up to date first aid and Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificates
  • Clean driving licence and own a car Available to attend all coaching and fixtures
  • Knowledge of Play-Cricket website
Desirable
  • ECB Club Coach or UkCC3 qualified
  • Experience of Coaching within a County Age Group squad or District Cricket Squad
  • Attend coach development workshops and conferences.
  • We would require the individual to have good management, organisation, and administration skills and be IT literate.

ROLE DESCRIPTION OF COUNTY AGE GROUP COACH OFF SEASON
  • Familiarise with rules and inform team as appropriate.
  • Hold appropriate middle practice/friendlies as arranged
  • Ideally attend all County fixtures
  • Arrival before players to check conditions
  • Liaise with Team Manager to select the team.
  • Take warm up and related cricket activities prior to each match
  • Provide key instruction to team prior to each match in liaison with team manager.
  • Meet umpires, opposition coaches and manager to discuss playing format and conditions along with the Manager
  • Responsible for the demeanour and behaviour of the team on and off the field before, during and after the match. Both Coach and manager are responsible for the behaviour of their team,liaising as needed with parents.
  • Deliver after match review in liaison with Manager as appropriate.
  • Encourage appropriate gestures of sportsmanship
OTHER
  • Ideally, attendance at all practice sessions
  • Regular updates to Cumbria Player Pathway steering committee in conjunction with the Team manager.
  • Mentor Assistant Coach(es) where appropriate and provide constructive feedback
  • Receive invitation to attend post season review and pre-season meeting with CC Ltd/CSCA
  • Provide a written report of the seasons activities, including results and playing records to the
AGM of CSCA (March)
  • ELIGIBILITY
  • Minimum UKCC2 or equivalent, and commitment to attend ECB Club Coach course-6 coach development workshops, plus an assessment. Must be completed within 12 months. CC Ltd must provide a course within Cumbria. Work toward UKCC 3.
  • Must sign a CC Ltd Zero hours contract and associated codes of conduct and procedures
  • Coaching and cricket experience essential
  • Willingness to undertake unsociable hours
  • Wish to aid talented player development
  • Attend CC Ltd Coaches Conference
