CRICKET JOBS: Digital Product Manager - ECB (UK)

1. Job Summary The Digital Product Manager controls the development and implementation of all ECB’s digital products including its main website ecb.co.uk, its mobile apps and suite of microsites, providing innovative direction, optimal value against development budget and implementing best in class policies and processes.

2. Role Context/ Organisation Structure The Digital Product Manager reports to the Head of Digital. This is a new role and will play a vital part in achieving the 4 pillars of the digital strategy. Product Excellence, Best in Class Content Production, Growing Revenues Responsibly and Maximising Reach
 
3. Facts and Figures ECB’s main website attracts more than 50 million page views, and it’s mobile apps have had more than one million downloads. ECB’s has an annual six-figure development budget
 
4. Key Working Relationships Head of Digital, Analytics Manager, Digital Content Manager, Social Media Manager, Digital Content Editors, CRM Manager; key personnel across Cricket Partnerships and Commercial departments; and key personnel at appointed external agencies
 
5. Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities - Job specific
 

  •     Assist Head of Digital in developing the strategic roadmap for ECB’s existing product suite and potential future product extensions
  •     Work with Head of Digital on appointment and management of key external agency suppliers with target skill set for agreed digital development
  •     Work with Analytics Manager to research user base and provide all possible insight into extent and nature of development projects and product enhancement opportunities
  •     Work with the key stakeholders to set appropriate KPIs for all digital products
  •     Provide continuous management of external agency development resource, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget
  •     Advise Head of Digital on performance of existing agency resource and selection of extended resource to meet development requirements
  •     Work alongside Head of Digital to manage development budget, agree future budgets, and ensure ECB receives continuous value for money
  •     Take ownership of producing and communicating the product roadmap and change delivery process and produce all necessary specifications and briefs to external agencies in line with agreed developments
  •     Provide industry best practice advice to digital team on digital design and website, mobile and app development advances
  •     Responsible for evolution and continuous improvement of ECB digital suite, managing agency resource against enhancement and bug-fix priorities
  •     Provide technical expertise within digital team and liaise with both content and social teams on best possible integration of content and social output within the website, mobile, and app framework
  •     Work alongside editorial team to ensure any necessary content management tasks are planned and executed following product enhancements
  •     Create and implement best practice processes, systems and governance for internal and external stakeholders
  •     Identify and prioritise future platforms on which to develop and deploy
  •     Liaise with key stakeholders in the business - Marketing, Commercial, Recreational, Legal, Procurement and editorial to understand and translate their needs into the right product development initiatives

7. Person Specification
 
Minimum qualification -
 

  •     At least five years working in a digital product environment, with at least three in a senior role ideally with considerable budget responsibility


Core knowledge/experience –
 

  •     Demonstrable management of delivering complex website design and build projects
  •     Experience of delivering well received app builds across all mobile operating systems
  •     Understanding of cricket and unique nature of sport desirable
  •     Understanding of sports data feeds and implementation into website and app products
  •     Considerable experience of managing external agency resources across overlapping website and app development projects against competing timescales and priorities
  •     Previous experience of defining product, marketing or commercial strategies, having sole responsibility for briefing agencies and having end to end product/campaign management accountability.
  •     Previous experience of implementing digital change across a complex organisation
  •     Experience of managing external agency resources in an Agile environment
  •     Experience of using Photoshop
  •     Good understanding of the importance of UX and UI and how it feeds into the development roadmap
  •     Able to evidence the ability to develop commercial business cases, outlining revenue benefits (where appropriate) attributed to a new product or business change and have experience of working with the Marketing Team and inputting into the brand and marketing teams
  •     Good understanding of user testing and QA processes
  •     Knowledge of social media channels and implementation opportunities across digital products
  •     Keen understand of hosting environments
  •     Good knowledge of video hosting and distribution solutions
  •     Proven at influencing senior management and executive levels
  •     Experience of running detailed pitch processes
  •     Vast experience of working with external technology and creative teams
  •     Ability to educate and inform internal stakeholders in a none technical manner
