CRICKET JOBS: Cricket Coach - Tower Hamlets (UK)
Closing date: 29th September 2014
Tower Hamlets Youth Sport Foundation
Tower Hamlets is a vibrant and diverse inner city borough with one of the youngest populations in the UK, 58% of whom live in poverty. Our highly-deprived urban setting brings many challenges but also attracts some of the brightest and most committed staff. The borough has an excellent reputation for tackling challenging circumstances with innovation and improvisation and our young people’s energy, enterprise and talent makes Tower Hamlets an extremely rewarding place to work.
The Tower Hamlets Youth Sport Foundation was the borough’s highly successful School Sport Partnership, now operating as a charity as the result of our schools’ shared ambition to retain a service which continues to increase participation in sport and physical activity, improve opportunities for young people and develop them and their communities through sport.
The Foundation is widely recognised for outstanding practice and we play an essential role in both school and community youth sport. This is represented by our Board of Trustees which includes representation from primary and secondary schools, Tower Hamlets Council, local sports clubs and youth centres, and our corporate partners.
Our child-centred approach to sports development is a core value and we take a bespoke approach towards addressing our schools’ and pupils’ individual needs. Consequently, the networks of Heads of PE, School Sport Coordinators, Primary PE coordinators, club representatives and young people which underpin our Board are essential.
Our strategic management is complimented by a strong delivery element and the numerous full time Development Officers, part time Coaches and coaching companies we employ ensure our impact is significant.
Tower Hamlets Cricket Coach
Reference: THYSFCRIC2
Salary: £18-25 per hour (dependent on experience)
Location: Tower Hamlets, London
Hours: 15-18 hours per week
Closing Date: 29/09/14 (4pm)
We are seeking an energetic cricket coach with a strong knowledge of the game (ideally to representative level) to join our Cricket Development team. The successful candidate will be level 2 qualified (or working towards), will hold a full driving licence and will have some experience of coaching young people and coaching in schools.
This role will involve a blend of coaching various age groups across a range of schools, with mentoring and a developing more in-depth relationship with young people selected for the highly successful Tower Hamlets District initiative. The eventual post holder will also play an important role in supporting young people in Tower Hamlets to access cricket at their nearest Premier League Cricket Club (Blackheath CC) and their county (Middlesex CCC).
We feel this post represents an excellent opportunity for an individual to join a skilled and dedicated team, and forge a career in cricket coaching. We also feel it presents an excellent balance between working with talented young sports performers and supporting children from some of the poorest and most challenging circumstances in the UK.
There is likely to be an opportunity for an increase in hours as the 2015 cricket season approaches, should the post holder wish to take them up.
The Foundation also aims to support employees in achieving their own personal goals and although initiative and self-motivation are very important, we are committed to professional development and offer a very supportive environment to work in.
The Tower Hamlets Youth Sport Foundation is committed to the safeguarding of young people and as such all successful applicants will be expected to undergo Enhanced DBS Checks.
For an informal discussion about any of these opportunities, please call the Tower Hamlets Cricket Development Officer on 0207 987 4811
