Queensland Cricket is responding to the changing needs of the game by placing increased emphasis on promoting and developing the game amongst the younger generation, across both genders and within Australia's Indigenous community.

The organisation is seeking a General Manager Game Development (GMGD) who will work closely with Cricket Australia to develop strategies to maximise participation and to carry responsibility for the execution of those strategies state-wide.  This outstanding opportunity will be located at Queensland Cricket's iconic Allan Border Field precinct which includes Cricket Australia's new state of the art Centre of Excellence (COE) facility.

Reporting to the CEO of Queensland Cricket, the GMGD will lead a significant team of dedicated professionals located throughout Queensland who work tirelessly at a grassroots levels to promote and develop the game. The focus is on building the capacity of existing cricket networks as well as coaching capability at school and junior cricket levels.  Game Development interacts with players, coaches, umpires, volunteers and fans.

The GMGD will provide direction and leadership to this group ensuring the available resources both people and financial are deployed and managed in such a way that participation in the game achieves agreed strategic objectives. In addition, as a member of Queensland Cricket's leadership team, the GMGD will be required to contribute to the strategic direction and development of the business and to be a role model for Australian Cricket's values. 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • A sound understanding of cricket networks and player pathways
  • Excellent analytical and strategic skills
  • The ability to frame and manage a significant budget.
  • Effective overall stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Influential leadership and managerial skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
