Winners at the PitchVision CSA Coach of the Year Awards

Congratulations to the Cricket South Africa PitchVision Coach of the Year awards!

The winners were slected by a panel of expert judges based on a wide range of critera. With some excellent coaches nominated, the choice was tough. Here are the winners.

Mark Boucher - PitchVision Coach of the Season

Mark Boucher was appointed the Titans Cricket Coach at the start of the 2016/17 season and imparted his wealth of international and domestic cricket experience onto one of the strongest franchises in South Africa.

As a player, Mark holds the record for the most Test dismissals by a wicket-keeper. He has represented Border, South Africa, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. He had been a regular feature of the South African side since the 1997/1998 tour to Australia, until his retirement from international cricket in July 2012 after a serious eye injury against Somerset.

Mark Charlton - PitchVision Semi-Professional Coach of the Year

Charlton lead Northerns to double success during the past season, losing just two games all season. They shared the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup crown with Free State and won the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge trophy outright after an excellent campaign. They won nine out of 11 matches in the 50-over competition, losing one game only with the other a no result, as they bossed their way to the title. Charlton’s men thumped Namibia in the final, while their first-class campaign saw them go unbeaten, before they drew the final with Free State. Northerns were unlucky in the Africa T20 Cup, bowing out despite winning two out of three games.

Sifiso Mbili - PitchVision RPC & Hubs Coach of the Year

This award has four key measurements to it which includes: Management, Talent Identification, Matches and Performance. For Management, the coach is assessed on the Management Perfomance Index which is a fixed formula. On matches, it’s the percentage of completed matches in Schools and Club leagues against the set fixtures. Talent Identification is measured via the number of players that come through the RPC/Hub who plays for their provincial age group sides as well as the number of Mini Cricket players in the RPC/Hub that progresses to hardball cricket. Performance is based on the % improvement of wins across all age groups and leagues within the RPC/Hub.
